FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. Why do I need The Goldy™?

A. Each patient has a different pain tolerance level. Following cosmetic surgery, there is usually quite a bit of swelling, “heat”, bruising and post-operative pain. Most doctors have advised using bags of frozen peas, along with prescription pain medication to manage these post-operative symptoms.

Q. Why can’t I just use bags of frozen peas?

A. If you want to have a cup of tea, read a book or newspaper, change the channel on the TV, or lie down and go to sleep, you’ll have to grow another set of hands! The Goldy™ affords you hands-free therapy, giving you complete freedom of movement. We think you’ll agree that
The Goldy™ is a necessity rather than a luxury if you are serious about better results and a faster, easier recovery!

Q. Can I control the pain with prescription pain medication?

A. Pain medication often has side affects causing symptoms such as nausea and constipation. They tend to make the whole body “sluggish”. This is counter-productive to your body’s natural healing process. You may find a decreased need or no need at all for these narcotic analgesics. The Goldy™ will provide tremendous relief to the affected areas.

Q. How do I know which of The Goldy™ products to order?

A. If your procedure involves the areas of the forehead, nose and eyes, you will want to order The Goldy™ Ice Mask by Day or The Goldy™ Ice Mask by Night.

For facelifts , you will want to order The Goldy™ Ice Cap or The Goldy™ Face Wrap. The Goldy™ Ice Cap covers a larger section of the neck area than The Goldy™ Face Wrap. The Goldy™ Face Wrap emphasizes the chin area.

For facelifts combined with procedures involving the eyes, nose and/or forehead, you can add The Goldy™ Ice Mask by Day or The Goldy™ Ice Mask by Night. That way you can choose to wear them separately or together as needed. Also, either of The The Goldy™ Ice Masks can be worn anytime for relaxation, or for relief of migraine headaches or sinus discomfort.

Q. How long should I freeze the gel packs?

A. The gel packs should be placed in the freezer a minimum of two hours prior to using, or they may be placed in “ice water” 1 hour prior to using. You may store the gel packs in the freezer indefinitely. They will remain flexible up to -20° Fahrenheit. Because of the high glycerin content, the packs are very soft and “cushiony”.

Q. How long will they retain coldness?

A. The gel packs will retain coldness up to 45 minutes.

Q. When is the best time to start using
The Goldy™?

A. Usually you will return to the doctor’s office 24 hours following surgery for removal of the bandages. You can bring The Goldy™ with you to this appointment. You can go home wearing The Goldy™ to immediately enjoy the soothing relief of the cold therapy and start to reduce the swelling, bruising and discomfort for an easier, speedier recovery! (Don’t forget to bring the cold gel packs with you!) Or you may want to ask the doctor’s office to store The Goldy™, keeping one set of gel packs in their freezer for you prior to your surgery and have it available for you at the first post-operative visit. Remember that each product comes with dual gel packs, so you can have a set of gel packs ready in the freezer at all times.

Q. Can gel packs also be heated?

A. Yes. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly, as it is important not to overheat the gel packs. Use extreme caution! Always check with your doctor as heat therapy is not appropriate for all procedures.

Q. Can I go to sleep wearing The Goldy™?

A. YES! In fact,The Goldy™ will assist you in falling asleep in cool, soothing comfort. When you wake up, simply replace the gel packs
